FileTrove (operated by Launching Ideas INC) helps you store files and share them as curated
troves. This policy covers the FileTrove website (filetrove.app) and the
“FileTrove — Add to Trove” browser extension.
What we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and optional phone number, used to
run your account and send service email (verification, recovery).
- Your files and troves — the files you upload and the titles, descriptions, notes and
tags you write. They are private by default; they become visible to others only when you
share or publish a trove yourself.
- Basic logs — standard web-server logs (IP address, request, time) and per-trove view
counts, used for security and abuse prevention.
The browser extension
- The extension stores your FileTrove API token and your trove list locally in your
browser (chrome.storage.local). The token is created and can be revoked at any time in
your FileTrove account settings.
- When you right-click and add something to a trove, the extension sends only that item
(its URL, or the image data itself) to filetrove.app over HTTPS — nothing else on the
page is read or sent.
- The extension has no analytics, no tracking, and talks to no third parties — its only
network destination is filetrove.app.
AI features
If you use the optional “suggest description” or tag-suggestion buttons, or publish a trove
to the public gallery, the files in that trove may be sent to Anthropic (our AI provider) to
generate captions and to screen for prohibited content. AI-generated text is always shown to
you for review, and we don’t use your files to train AI models.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We don’t run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
- We don’t read your private files except as required to operate the service (thumbnails,
virus/abuse screening) or as required by law.
Payments
Paid plans are processed by Stripe; your card details go to Stripe directly and never touch
our servers.
Deleting your data
Deleting a file or trove removes it from your account and queues the underlying storage for
permanent deletion. To close your account entirely, contact us and we’ll remove it.
